Lead Financial Insights: Supervisor, Finance Business Partnering – Chennai (Hybrid)
At ICON, the true value of finance is not just in reporting the numbers—it's in translating them into strategic insights that steer our clinical trials and secure our partnerships. As a Supervisor in Finance Business Partnering, you will lead a team that serves as the financial nerve center for our global projects. You’ll be the analytical force that ensures every study is not only scientifically sound but also financially viable, driving decisions that impact our growth and client success.
We are looking for a qualified finance leader who combines technical accounting excellence with sharp commercial acumen. If you excel at leading teams, deciphering complex project economics, and partnering with operations to turn data into actionable strategy, this hybrid role in Chennai is your opportunity to advance your career within a global industry leader.
Your Role: Lead, Analyze, and Influence
Lead a High-Performing Team
- Build and lead a Project Financial Analysis (PFA) team, fostering a culture of accuracy, excellence, and timely delivery.
- Be responsible for hiring, onboarding, and developing team members, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to succeed.
- Embed ICON’s ‘Own It’ culture and values—Accountability, Collaboration, Partnership, Integrity—within your team’s daily work.
Own the Financial Health of Clinical Studies
- Take end-to-end ownership of the financial performance of assigned studies. Analyze key metrics like FTE burn, invoicing status, and budget variances to assess study health and viability.
- Act as the primary finance partner to Project Managers and leadership, providing clear insights on financial performance, forecasting revenue, and identifying risks or opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver external financial reports to sponsors, ensuring all fee structures, pass-through costs, milestones, and out-of-scope activities are accurately captured and communicated.
Drive Strategic Reporting & Decision Support
- Develop and maintain accurate monthly and quarterly revenue forecasts and financial reports with insightful commentary for business unit leadership.
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring revenue is reported accurately and in compliance with all requirements.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with the Project Management organization, becoming a sought-after advisor for financial planning and analysis.
- Utilize tools like Oracle, Hyperion, Alteryx, or Power BI to streamline reporting, enhance data visualization, and support ad-hoc management presentations.
Who You Are
You are a finance professional who sees beyond the spreadsheet. You understand that numbers tell the story of a project’s success and a client’s satisfaction. You are as comfortable leading a team as you are diving into a complex forecast.
Your Foundation
- Bachelor’s degree and a professional accountancy qualification (CPA, CWA, CA, CMA).
- 5+ years of post-qualification experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a team leadership or supervisory role, including performance management.
- Proven experience in Project Revenue accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), or business partnering, ideally within a project-based service industry (CRO, consulting, IT services).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel. Experience with Oracle, Hyperion, Alteryx, or Power BI is a significant advantage.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate financial data for non-finance stakeholders.
Your Leadership & Mindset
- Strategic Business Partner: You connect financial outcomes to operational activities and business strategy.
- Analytical & Detail-Oriented: You possess strong numerical and analytical skills with uncompromising attention to detail.
- Proactive & Results-Driven: You take initiative, anticipate questions, and drive processes to meet tight deadlines.
- Developer of Talent: You are committed to coaching, mentoring, and building the next generation of finance professionals.
Why This Role Matters
Your analysis directly influences how we manage multi-million dollar clinical trials and serve our clients. You will ensure our business is not only compliant but also strategically and financially sound. This is a visible leadership role where your work impacts ICON’s global performance.
Grow Your Career in a Hybrid Model
- Hybrid Role in Chennai: Benefit from a flexible blend of in-office collaboration and remote work.
- Clear Path for Advancement: Progress to Manager, Director, and senior finance leadership roles within our global finance structure.
- Develop a Unique Skill Set: Master the intersection of project accounting, clinical operations, and commercial finance in a leading CRO.
