Lead Safety & Sustainability at a Global Biotech Powerhouse

At our flagship CSL Behring Broadmeadows site – Australia's largest pharmaceutical manufacturing facility – you will take on a senior leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and leading critical Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs.
This position partners strategically with the business to ensure our high-standard manufacturing and project activities not only comply with regulations but exemplify best practice. Reporting to the EHS Director, you will be a key driver of a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement, protecting our people and our operations.
Your Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership
You will provide expert leadership, develop strategic programs, and act as a trusted advisor to embed EHS excellence across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Program Leadership: Develop, deploy, and lead allocated EHS programs from the site strategic plan, driving a culture of continuous improvement.
- Systems & Process Ownership: Lead the improvement of allocated EHS management systems and processes.
- Business Partnering & Consultation: Partner with CSL departments, facilitating cooperation between management and employees to proactively identify, manage, and close EHS issues. Bring a consultative, problem-solving mindset.
- Training & Capability Development: Develop EHS-specific training packages and facilitate general EHS education and communication workshops.
- Incident Management & Compliance: Facilitate incident investigation analysis, ensure appropriate corrective actions, and provide leadership to support compliance with site procedures and EHS legislation.
- Team Support: Provide support and guidance to other EHS team members as required.
Your Skills & Experience: The Seasoned EHS Leader
You are an experienced EHS professional with a proven track record of leadership in complex, high-risk industrial environments.
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant tertiary qualifications).
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a dedicated EHS role within a complex Industrial, Manufacturing, or Construction environment.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and leading EHS Management Systems, with a demonstrated ability to deliver practical tools and effective training.
- Strong business partnering experience and the ability to influence and drive change at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting.
- Proven experience in addressing safety and environmental concerns and implementing sustainable improvements.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and across multiple department functions.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with the Commonwealth WHS legislation, regulation, and Regulator (Comcare).
- Experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or another highly regulated (GMP) manufacturing sector.

This role is based at CSL’s Broadmeadows site. It is a full-time, office-based position, 5 days a week.
