About the Role
Are you a clinical research leader passionate about developing teams and delivering exceptional results for clients? We are looking for a driven Clinical Operations Manager to lead, mentor, and oversee a skilled team of data management and/or clinical monitoring professionals. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the timely delivery of high-quality project deliverables while fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment. You will serve as a key point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders, directly contributing to project success and business growth.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
You will be accountable for both team leadership and project excellence, with core responsibilities including:
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, retain, develop, and motivate a high-performing team, ensuring they are skilled, experienced, and aligned with client and business goals.
- Act as a role model and mentor, providing technical support, coaching, and training to junior and senior staff to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle for direct reports, including performance reviews, goal setting, and career development conversations.
- Foster a positive, results-oriented work environment built on partnership, open communication, and teamwork.
- May manage employees from multiple disciplines, particularly in smaller country/location settings.
Project Resourcing & Delivery Excellence
- Oversee and ensure the timely, high-quality delivery of all team project deliverables through effective quality control and workload management.
- Produce accurate resourcing plans in collaboration with Project Leadership to optimally staff projects with suitably experienced personnel.
- Monitor and manage team and individual productivity/billability targets and staff turnover.
- Provide consultation and develop action plans to keep projects on time and within budget, facilitating metrics collection and analysis.
- Ensure all project documentation and correspondence is accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
Client & Business Partnership
- Serve as a primary liaison between the project team, sponsor, and management regarding team performance and project status.
- Contribute to business development by participating in project bids, client presentations, and supporting efforts to generate new business leads.
- May coordinate client or account activities for a specific department or function and serve as a Global Management Business Associate (GMBA) for a location or country.
- Prepare and submit weekly study-specific status reports to all stakeholders.
Technical & Strategic Contribution
- Maintain a comprehensive workload across multiple projects, potentially serving as a senior-level contributor on a project team.
- Utilize excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to support team members and project leadership.
- Participate in and lead departmental or Parexel-wide system and process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate leadership by actively participating in management meetings and ensuring adherence to corporate policies.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a biological science, pharmacy, nursing, or other health-related discipline. Equivalent clinical or business experience will also be considered.
Experience
- Substantial experience in clinical monitoring, clinical data management, or a closely related clinical research area.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a full workload across multiple, complex projects.
- Demonstrated experience in managing, mentoring, and motivating direct reports or project teams.
- Experience in project resourcing, quality control, and client relationship management.
