THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced EHS Lead to join our team at the Tullamarine site. In this role, you will lead, develop, and implement Environmental Health and Safety programs, maintain regulatory compliance with a focus on safety, and partner with the business to ensure manufacturing and project activities meet high standards for safety management.
This is a full-time, office-based role, five days per week at our Tullamarine facility, with occasional travel to Melbourne CBD and Woodend.

The EHS Lead ensures that safety is embedded in every aspect of operations. You will develop programs, lead investigations, provide training, and partner with operational teams to drive continuous improvement. Your work directly contributes to a culture where everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Incident Investigation and Corrective Actions
Lead incident investigations and facilitate incident investigation analysis. Ensure corrective actions are identified, implemented, and completed effectively. Drive learning from incidents across the organisation.
EHS Policy and Program Development
Establish and implement Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures. Plan, develop, and implement local EHS programs to ensure compliance with corporate EHS standards and regulatory requirements.
Business Partnering
Partner with operational value streams and other groups as required. Bring a consultative, problem-solving mindset to EHS challenges. Facilitate co-operation between management and employees in developing and carrying out measures designed to proactively identify and manage closure of EHS issues through relevant committees and teams.
Emergency Response
Coordinate the site emergency response and management process. Ensure readiness to respond effectively to any emergency situation.
Training and Education
Develop and provide safety training as required. Create EHS-specific training packages and facilitate EHS education and communication workshops. Build EHS capability across the workforce.
Continuous Improvement
Drive a culture of continuous improvement in EHS performance. Focus on ease of doing business and simplification of processes, policies, and procedures.
Regulatory Compliance
Maintain knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in Australia. Ensure site activities comply with all applicable requirements.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education
Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
8+ years in an EHS role, preferably in complex industrial, manufacturing, or chemical environments. Large pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing experience is preferred.
Regulatory Knowledge
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in Australia. Understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
EHS Management Systems
Experience developing and implementing EHS Management systems and processes. Proven ability to deliver practical tools and training that drive results.
Business Partnering
Demonstrated ability to partner with operations and bring a consultative, problem-solving mindset. Experience working effectively across multiple department functions.
Organisational Skills
Proven ability to organise, prioritise, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a complex environment.
Continuous Improvement
Track record of addressing safety and environmental concerns and implementing improvements that deliver results.
A TYPICAL WEEK MIGHT INCLUDE
Monday
Attend operations leadership meeting to understand upcoming activities and identify EHS support needs. Review incident reports from the previous week and follow up on outstanding corrective actions.
Tuesday
Facilitate an incident investigation for a recent near miss. Work with the team to identify root causes and develop corrective actions. Begin drafting investigation report.
Wednesday
Deliver safety training to a group of new operators. Review emergency response procedures with the site emergency response team and schedule upcoming drills.
Thursday
Partner with an operational value stream to review a proposed process change. Assess EHS implications and provide input. Update EHS procedures as needed.
Friday
Compile weekly EHS metrics and prepare report for site leadership. Attend EHS team meeting to discuss priorities for the coming week. Follow up on any pending regulatory submissions.

You understand the site's manufacturing processes, key EHS risks, and regulatory requirements. You have built relationships with operational leaders and EHS team members. You are actively contributing to incident investigations and program development.
