🎯 Your Impact: Key Responsibilities
Innovative Textile Development
- Design and develop softgoods concepts using expertise in fibers, yarns, fabrics, foams, and advanced textile manufacturing methods
- Research and evaluate emerging materials to meet comfort, aesthetic, quality, cost, and sustainability targets
- Apply Design Thinking principles to understand user needs and translate insights into functional, manufacturable solutions
- Conduct ideation, feasibility studies, prototyping, and rigorous testing for textile and textile-integrated components
Manufacturing Excellence & Scalability
- Advance softgoods manufacturing processes (welding, bonding, taping, overmoulding, thermoforming) for high-volume production
- Collaborate with external vendors and manufacturing specialists to ensure performance and scalable production
- Optimize materials, processes, and designs for global production in alignment with cost and quality requirements
- Travel internationally to support supplier development, manufacturing reviews, and material evaluations
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work closely with Industrial Design, Product Development, Sourcing, and stakeholders to balance functionality, comfort, and innovation
- Mentor engineers across departments in selecting appropriate textile materials and manufacturing methods
- Contribute to intellectual property development for novel materials or processes
- Stay current with textile industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous innovation
Technical Prototyping & Validation
- Design, prototype, and evaluate textiles using conventional and emerging processes (weaving, knitting, lamination, ultrasonic welding)
- Utilize 3D CAD tools and digital softgoods design platforms to visualize and refine concepts
- Develop comprehensive testing protocols to validate material performance and user comfort
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of material specifications and manufacturing processes
⭐ Your Profile: Qualifications & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Fashion/Apparel Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience in softgoods or textile product development
- Strong knowledge of textile manufacturing and softgoods integration methods
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary teamwork
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in textile manufacturing: knitting, braiding, coating, finishing, welding, bonding, laminating
- Experience with softgoods integration: seam taping, thermoforming, shaping, overmoulding with plastics
- Hands-on prototyping and testing capabilities
- Understanding of material behavior and performance characteristics
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks)
- Experience with digital softgoods design tools (Clo3D, Browzwear, Optitex)
- Ability to sketch and communicate concepts in 2D/3D
- Experience working with global suppliers and manufacturing partners
