Drive Strategic Insight: Financial Analyst II – Chennai (Hybrid)
At ICON, numbers tell more than a financial story—they reveal the health of our clinical trials, the strength of our partnerships, and the path to our future growth. As a Financial Analyst II, you will be the analytical engine behind our business decisions. Your expertise in modeling, forecasting, and deep-dive analysis will provide the clarity needed to navigate complex project economics and drive operational excellence across a global organization.
We are looking for a qualified finance professional (CA/CMA) with a sharp analytical mind and a passion for turning data into strategy. If you thrive on complex modeling, excel in cross-functional collaboration, and are ready to take ownership of critical financial insights, this hybrid role in Chennai is your next career step.
Your Role: Analyze, Model, and Advise
Conduct Advanced Financial Analysis
- Perform detailed variance analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to evaluate business unit performance and inform strategic planning.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to assess business scenarios, investment opportunities, and potential risks, providing data-driven recommendations to leadership.
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring they meet all internal and external compliance standards.
Partner with the Business
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Clinical Operations, Project Management, Business Development) to monitor, analyze, and report on key financial and operational metrics.
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor, helping stakeholders understand the financial implications of operational decisions and strategic initiatives.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives, implementing best practices in financial analysis, reporting, and data management to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Support Strategic Decision-Making
- Provide critical analytical support for business reviews, long-range planning, and ad-hoc strategic projects.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights and compelling presentations for diverse audiences.
- Contribute to a culture of financial discipline and continuous improvement within the finance function and across the organization.
Who You Are
You are a qualified finance professional who sees analysis as a tool for influence. You are meticulous, curious, and driven by the challenge of solving business problems through numbers.
Your Foundation
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Cost & Management Accountant (CMA).
- 2-4 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or management accounting, preferably within a large corporate or project-driven environment (e.g., CRO, IT services, consulting).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas) is essential. Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and data visualization tools is a strong plus.
- Excellent command of English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Your Core Strengths
- Analytical & Detail-Oriented: You possess exceptional problem-solving skills and an unwavering commitment to accuracy.
- Business Partner Mindset: You excel at building relationships and translating financial concepts for non-finance colleagues.
- Proactive & Self-Motivated: You take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work under deadlines.
- Continuous Learner: You are eager to master new systems, processes, and the unique business model of clinical research.
Why This Role is a Career Catalyst
This is not a back-office reporting role. You will be at the center of the action, providing the analysis that guides how we invest, operate, and grow. You will develop a deep understanding of the global CRO business while building a highly transferable skill set in business partnering and advanced analytics.
Grow in a Hybrid, Supportive Environment
- Hybrid Role in Chennai: Benefit from the flexibility of remote work combined with the collaboration of our Chennai office.
- Clear Professional Path: Advance to Senior Financial Analyst, Finance Business Partner, or Team Lead roles within our global finance structure.
- Meaningful Impact: Your work directly supports the financial integrity and strategic direction of projects that bring new medical treatments to patients.
