Global Technology Solutions (GTS) at ResMed is a division dedicated to creating innovative, scalable, and secure platforms and services for patients, providers, and people across ResMed. The primary goal of GTS is to accelerate well-being and growth by transforming the core, enabling patient, people, and partner outcomes, and building future-ready operations.
The strategy of GTS focuses on aligning goals and promoting collaboration across all organizational areas. This includes fostering shared ownership, developing flexible platforms that can easily scale to meet global demands, and implementing global standards for key processes to ensure efficiency and consistency.
The Lead Engineer – Semantic Layer & Strategy Platform is responsible for the end‑to‑end implementation, and operation of the enterprise semantic layer using MicroStrategy (Strategy) Mosaic and related tools. This role acts as the technical authority for MicroStrategy across the organization, covering architecture, administration, security, semantic modelling, report and dashboard development, user enablement, platform governance and training other team members.
You will lead the technical implementation of the semantic layer, ensure consistent and governed enterprise metrics, and enable business reporting and analytics at scale. The role requires deep expertise in MicroStrategy & Mosaic, strong understanding of relational database systems, and the ability to bridge business requirements with robust technical solutions. Most importantly, you need to train the other team members.
Semantic Layer & Architecture
- Own the architecture and technical design of the enterprise semantic layer using MicroStrategy & Mosaic.
- Design and manage enterprise‑wide metric definitions, dimensional models, hierarchies, and reusable semantic objects.
- Ensure semantic models are aligned with underlying relational data models (star schemas, fact/dimension models).
- Act as the final authority on semantic modelling standards, naming conventions, and best practices in MicroStrategy & Mosaic.
Security & Governance
- Design and manage MicroStrategy security architecture, including:
- Users, user groups, and roles
- Object‑level and data‑level security (row‑level / column‑level)
- Integration with enterprise authentication and authorization systems
- Ensure semantic layer implementations comply with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Define and enforce metric certification and lifecycle processes in collaboration with governance bodies.
Reporting, Dashboards & Enablement
- Oversee the design and development of reports, dashboards, and analytical applications in MicroStrategy.
- Establish development standards and review practices for report authors and analytics engineers.
- Provide hands‑on support and guidance for complex reporting and analytical use cases.
- Lead user training, onboarding, and enablement for business and technical users.
Performance, Reliability & Operations
- Monitor and tune semantic layer and MicroStrategy performance, including query efficiency and usage patterns.
- Define operational SLAs, monitoring, and alerting for the platform.
- Develop and maintain platform documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner closely with data engineering and platform teams to align semantic models with physical data architecture.
- Translate business requirements into governed semantic definitions and analytics solutions.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and direction to analysts and engineers working with MicroStrategy.
- Ensure that team members have required knowledge and conduct appropriate teaching and knowledge transfer sessions.
Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience
Core Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in MicroStrategy
- Minimum 15 years of experience in analytics & BI
MicroStrategy Expertise (Required)
- Deep, hands‑on experience with MicroStrategy, including:
- Architecture and metadata modelling
- Administration and environment management
- Security model design and implementation
- Report and dashboard development
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience implementing and operating enterprise‑scale MicroStrategy deployments.
Semantic Modelling & Analytics
- Strong experience designing semantic layers and governed enterprise metrics.
- Solid understanding of dimensional modelling (star schemas, fact/dimension design).
- Ability to align business definitions with technical implementations.
Relational Database Systems (Required)
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases, preferably Snowflake.
- Experience with SQL, query optimisation, joins, aggregation strategies, and performance considerations.
- Understanding of how semantic layers interact with physical data models and warehouse execution engines.
Security & Governance
- Experience designing and implementing data access controls and governed analytics solutions.
- Familiarity with enterprise data governance, metric certification, and audit requirements.
Leadership & Ways of Working
Technical Leadership
- Ability to define and own technical direction for the enterprise semantic layer.
- Comfortable conducting design reviews and making architectural trade‑off decisions.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to deliver enterprise analytics platforms end‑to‑end: design, implementation, rollout, and ongoing operation.
- Excellent teaching and knowledge transfer skills. (Mandatory )
Summary
This role is critical to ensuring a single, trusted, and governed semantic layer for enterprise reporting and analytics. The Lead Engineer– Semantic Layer & MicroStrategy Platform will serve as the organization’s MicroStrategy authority, enabling consistent metrics, secure access, and scalable analytics across all departments.
