Job Description: Head of Procurement / Senior Procurement Manager
OVERVIEW
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven leader to head our Procurement function. You will be fully accountable for organizing supplier selection and management, building long-term partnerships, and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of materials critical to our plant operations. Your mandate is to reduce procurement costs, achieve competitive advantage, and lead a high-performing team in alignment with company strategy.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence
You will set the direction for procurement, driving value, innovation, and resilience across our supply base.
Strategic Sourcing & Cost Leadership:
- Lead the strategic sourcing plan in line with company objectives. Drive alternate sourcing and price negotiation to achieve stretched cost targets.
- Lead all negotiations to secure competitive rates for products and services. Actively participate in tender committee activities (RFP, RFQ, RFI).
- Draft and finalize contracts/agreements in collaboration with legal advisors.
Supplier Management & Performance:
- Develop and negotiate with alternative vendors to ensure competitive pricing, service, and quality.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics for vendors to ensure compliance with specifications, contract terms, and quality standards.
- Promote a culture of integrity, continuous improvement, and cross-functional integration.
Team Leadership & Process Governance:
- Lead the procurement team by setting clear goals, providing coaching, mentorship, and facilitating upskilling.
- Control purchases to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all procurement records are fully integrated and maintained in the ERP system.
- Review and update departmental quality system procedures and work instructions.
Requirements: The Seasoned Procurement Executive
You are an accomplished procurement leader with deep expertise in manufacturing supply chains and a proven track record of delivering value.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Business Administration or relevant qualification.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in managerial purchasing, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
Critical Knowledge & Skills:
- Data Analysis & Strategy: Expertise in spend analysis, budgeting, costing, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Supplier Performance: Development of key performance metrics for vendors.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of raw materials (key materials), packaging, quality, production processes, and associated costs.
- Contract & Legal: Proficiency in contract management, drafting terms, and legal documentation.
- Negotiation & Tendering: Mastery of negotiation tactics and the tender award process (RFP, RFI, RFQ).
- Market Intelligence: Knowledge of current industry trends, products, and raw material price movements.
