About the Role: Procurement Compliance & Import/Export Lead
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented leader to manage our Procurement Excellence, Compliance, and International Trade functions. In this pivotal role, you will be the guardian of our procurement integrity, ensuring all processes meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance. You will lead audits, manage customs relations, and oversee a team dedicated to maintaining Hartalega’s exemplary global trade and procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Process Governance
- Lead and develop the Procurement Excellence team, providing mentorship and direction to compliance and import/export executives.
- Lead and manage business performance reviews for the procurement function.
- Enforce and ensure the effective implementation of the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system.
Compliance, Audit & Quality Assurance
- Lead and facilitate internal and external audits on the end-to-end procurement process.
- Establish and maintain robust quality systems within procurement, leveraging your expertise in quality system establishment and auditing.
Customs & International Trade Management
- Supervise customs clearance for all imported items, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Control and coordinate the disposal of items granted under exemption facilities in full compliance with regulations.
- Facilitate customs audits and proactively maintain a strong, positive relationship with local customs authorities and other relevant government bodies.
- Ensure the timely renewal of all necessary licenses and permits for import/export activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Economics, International Trade, or a closely related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, with a proven track record in quality system establishment, compliance, and audit roles.
- Significant hands-on experience in managing customs processes, import/export regulations, and liaising with government authorities.
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is essential.
Knowledge & Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of international trade compliance, Malaysian customs regulations, and procurement best practices.
- Strong auditing skills and a thorough understanding of quality management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills.
- Proactive, strategic thinker with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
