About the Role: Senior Clinical Data Manager
As a Senior Clinical Data Manager, you will be the strategic lead responsible for the end-to-end integrity of clinical trial data. You will plan, implement, and oversee the setup, programming, and maintenance of data management systems, ensuring the collection of complete, accurate, and regulatory-compliant data for final analysis. This role combines deep technical expertise with project leadership and mentorship responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Data Management & System Oversight:
- Lead the design, setup, and ongoing maintenance of electronic data capture (EDC) systems and databases.
- Design or assist in the design of Case Report Forms (CRFs) and other data collection tools.
- Develop and generate comprehensive data reports, ensuring quality and accuracy for analysis.
- Participate in the development and validation of new data management systems and processes.
Project Leadership & Mentorship:
- Act as the Data Management Lead on assigned projects, taking on project management responsibilities.
- Mentor, train, and supervise junior data management staff.
- Plan resources and project timelines for data management deliverables.
- Interact with clinical, programming, biostatistics, and other project team leads.
Quality, Compliance & Collaboration:
- Ensure all work complies with ICH-GCP, regulatory guidelines (e.g., NHMRC, TGA), SOPs, and project-specific requirements.
- Liaise with Research Fellows, Project Managers, and external parties to determine data collection and reporting requirements.
- Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance data management tools and systems.
- Proactively identify, report, and escalate potential risks to data quality.
About You: Qualifications & Experience
Requirements:
- A tertiary degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or a related field.
- 10-12 years of progressive, hands-on experience in clinical data management, including increasing responsibility and leadership roles.
- Strong IT and technical skills including proficiency in SQL, reporting software, and all MS Office applications.
- Demonstrated ability to handle large, complex data sets and learn new software applications quickly.
- A strong, practical understanding of ICH-GCP and relevant regulatory guidelines pertaining to data quality.
- Proven ability to evaluate and improve existing data management processes and procedures.
Preferred:
- Experience with statistical packages (e.g., SAS, R) is highly desirable.
- Experience in our core therapeutic areas (renal, cardiometabolic, oncology) is a plus.
