Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager – Global Phase 1 Clinical Trials
Your Mission: Champion a Global Culture of Care & Safety
At Nucleus Network, our groundbreaking Phase 1 clinical trials advance the medicines of tomorrow. Behind every milestone is an unwavering commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our teams across Australia, the USA, and the UK. We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) Manager to embed a proactive, caring, and compliant safety culture into the heart of our global operations.
This is your opportunity to lead from the front, not just from a manual. Based in Melbourne or Brisbane, you will be the strategic and operational linchpin for HSW, partnering with our People & Culture team to ensure every employee, in every facility, can contribute to our life-saving mission within a secure and supportive environment. If you are passionate about translating policy into practice and fostering a culture where safety and wellbeing are inseparable from our scientific excellence, this global role is your platform.
Your Impact: Build and Safeguard Our Global Operational Foundation
You will own the end-to-end health, safety, and wellbeing framework, ensuring it is robust, responsive, and woven into the daily fabric of our global business.
1. Lead Global Risk & Compliance Strategy
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments across our Australian, US, and UK facilities, identifying unique and common hazards in a clinical research environment.
- Maintain and evolve global risk registers, ensuring corrective actions are tracked to completion and local legislative requirements (WHS, OSHA, UK HSE) are not just met, but exceeded.
- Support audits and regulatory inspections as the subject matter expert, preparing sites and leading our continuous improvement response.
2. Drive Incident Management & Proactive Prevention
- Manage the global incident reporting and investigation process, conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- Maintain meticulous incident records and prepare insightful reports for management, turning data into actionable safety intelligence.
- Coordinate injury and illness management, including case management, return-to-work programs, and liaison with external health providers to support employee recovery.
3. Foster a Culture of Safety & Wellbeing
- Facilitate global HSW consultation through safety committees, toolbox talks, and feedback channels, ensuring every voice contributes to a safer workplace.
- Design and deliver engaging compliance education and training programs for employees and managers, making safety principles clear and practical.
- Champion employee wellbeing initiatives, integrating support systems that foster physical and psychological health across all jurisdictions.
Who You Are: A Strategic Partner with Operational Grit
You are a pragmatic safety leader who understands that the best policies are those that work in practice. You build trust effortlessly, communicate with clarity across all levels, and are driven by genuine care for people.
Your Mandatory Foundation
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of operational HSW experience, ideally within clinical research, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or a similarly regulated environment.
- Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation (Australian), with an understanding of or ability to quickly master OSHA (US) and HSE (UK) frameworks.
- Proven hands-on experience in risk management, incident investigation, and delivering HSW training.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills to engage diverse global teams.
Your Desired Strengths
- Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent.
- Practical experience with HSW management systems and digital reporting tools.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting employee wellbeing programs.
- The resilience and adaptability to manage priorities across multiple time zones and legal jurisdictions.
