We are seeking a motivated and articulate Inside Sales Specialist to join our Business Development team in China. In this pivotal role, you will be the frontline engine for new business growth, identifying and qualifying potential clients, and building the pipeline that fuels our mission. You will leverage your understanding of the clinical research landscape to connect with biotech and pharma sponsors, presenting Emerald's value proposition and initiating partnerships that accelerate the development of new therapies. Your Mission: Hunt, Qualify, and Build the Future Pipeline
You will be responsible for the early stages of the sales cycle: prospecting, outreach, needs analysis, and lead qualification. Your work sets the stage for our Business Development Directors to close deals and bring new studies to Emerald.
Key Responsibilities
1. Proactive Prospecting & Lead Generation
- Identify, research, and qualify potential new clients within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors across China and APAC.
- Initiate and maintain professional contact with prospects through strategic phone calls, emails, and virtual meetings.
- Conduct consultative needs assessments to understand client challenges, study requirements, and strategic fit.
2. Pipeline Management & Sales Support
- Manage and nurture the sales pipeline with precision, maintaining accurate and timely records in the CRM system.
- Present Emerald’s capabilities, therapeutic expertise, and value proposition clearly and persuasarily to prospective clients.
- Collaborate closely with Business Development Managers/Directors to ensure smooth handoff of qualified leads and support the full sales cycle.
- Provide regular pipeline updates and forecasts to sales leadership.
3. Market Intelligence & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and new developments to identify fresh opportunities and inform strategy.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with prospective and existing clients.
- Contribute to the improvement of sales tools, processes, and CRM practices to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
Who You Are: The Ideal Candidate
You are a results-driven communicator with a hunter mentality and a solid grasp of the clinical research environment. You are comfortable working independently in a remote/hybrid setting and thrive on initiating new relationships.
Your Required Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of successful experience in inside sales, business development, or account management within the CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry.
- Fluency in both Chinese and English (written and spoken) is essential for effective client engagement and internal collaboration.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and building a robust pipeline.
- Strong understanding of the clinical research industry, including sponsor challenges and regulatory processes.
- Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and sales productivity tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
