Lead Cell Line Development for Next-Generation Biologics
Organisational Overview
Lambda Therapeutic Research is a global full-service Clinical Research Organization (CRO) headquartered in Ahmedabad, India. With strategic facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia, we deliver comprehensive, end-to-end clinical research services to innovator, biotech, and generic pharmaceutical companies worldwide.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Scientist to lead critical activities within our Cell Line Development team. In this hands-on technical leadership role, you will be instrumental in constructing robust mammalian cell lines for the production of therapeutic proteins and antibodies. Your expertise will drive projects from vector design through to the delivery of high-producing clones for process development, directly impacting the pipeline of global biopharmaceutical clients.
Your Mission: Technical Excellence in Cell Line Generation
You will own the end-to-end cell line development workflow, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, reproducible clones that meet project timelines and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Cell Line Development
- Design and construct single and double gene expression vectors.
- Execute transfection of CHO-GS (-) cell lines for minipool generation and finalization.
- Lead single-cell cloning (monoclone generation) via limiting dilution or other advanced technologies.
- Plan and execute fed-batch studies of minipools and monoclones for titer and critical quality attribute (CQA) analysis.
2. Clone Delivery & Technology Transfer
- Be responsible for delivering robust, high-producing clones suitable for upstream process development.
- Work closely with Process Development teams to ensure seamless technology transfer of cell lines.
- Contribute to the development of GMP cell banks for process and product development campaigns.
3. Laboratory Leadership & Compliance
- Train and mentor junior team members on technical protocols and best practices.
- Prepare, review, and update department-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Standard Laboratory Practices (SLPs), and comprehensive cell line development reports.
- Manage laboratory vendors for equipment and reagent procurement.
- Oversee in-house inventory management for critical lab supplies.
4. Experimental Strategy
- Plan the structure and execution of complex experiments, analyzing data to make informed decisions on clone selection and process optimization.
Who You Are: The Ideal Candidate
You are a seasoned scientist with deep hands-on expertise in mammalian cell culture and a passion for mentoring and project leadership.
Your Required Qualifications:
- MSc or MTech in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a closely related field.
- 8 to 12 years of direct, hands-on work experience in developing mammalian cell lines within a biopharma, biotech, or relevant CRO/CDMO environment.
- Proven expertise in:
- Mammalian vector construction and transfection.
- Cell line development using CHO-GS (-) systems.
- Single-cell clone generation and screening.
- Fed-batch shake flask experiments for clone evaluation.
- Strong understanding of the pathway to GMP cell bank generation.
- Excellent documentation skills with experience preparing technical reports and SOPs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and lead technical training.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Experience with microbial cell line development projects.
- Familiarity with advanced cloning technologies (e.g., cell sorters).
- Experience in a client-facing role within a CRO/CDMO setting.
Why Build Your Career at Lambda?
