About the Role
Are you a motivated student eager to gain hands-on experience in a world-class biopharmaceutical QC environment? Takeda is offering a dynamic internship within our Quality Control Microbiology & Lab Services team in Singapore. In this essential role, you will perform critical microbiological testing, ensure the smooth operation of our laboratories, and contribute directly to our mission of delivering safe and effective medicines to patients. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop practical skills in GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) lab operations and sample management.
Your Key Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in supporting the daily functions of our QC laboratories. Your core responsibilities will be grouped into three key areas:
1. Routine Microbiological Testing & Analysis
- Perform routine testing including Bioburden, Endotoxin (LAL), and Environmental Monitoring (EM) plate reading.
- Test a variety of microbiological samples: critical utilities, in-process materials, Bulk Drug Substances (BDS), raw materials, and investigational samples.
- Operate qualified laboratory equipment such as autoclaves (for sterilization cycles) and depyrogenation ovens.
- Perform daily liquation of Process and Non-Protein samples.
2. Sample & Documentation Management
- Manage the receipt, logging, and distribution of both routine and non-routine (NRR) samples to their designated storage locations.
- Perform peer review of sample management tasks and associated data for accuracy.
- Act as ECC (Engineering Change Control) Controller: generate controlled copies of test forms and perform reconciliation upon completion.
- Maintain the tracking system for NRR samples and ECC documentation.
3. Laboratory Support & Operations
- Assist in laboratory inventory management, including stocking consumables (lifting items <20kg using the buddy system).
- Perform sanitization and wipe-down of consumables for the Microbiology Lab.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on key lab equipment like Temperature-Controlled Units (TCO) and Biosafety Cabinets (BSC).
- Perform peer review on equipment logbooks and support 5S methodology for workplace organization.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping, ensure sufficient inventory to prevent testing delays, and adhere to all EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements.

Qualifications & Attributes
- Currently enrolled in a Diploma or Bachelor’s program in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- A keen interest in pursuing a career in the biopharmaceutical or quality control industry.
- Positive mindset, high motivation, and strong commitment to assigned tasks.
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A collaborative team player with good emotional intelligence and time management abilities.
- Flexible and able to adapt to dynamic lab constraints.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
