About the Role
Gain hands-on experience in a world-class biopharmaceutical environment! Takeda is seeking a motivated QC Microbiology & Lab Services Intern to join our Quality Control team in Singapore. This role offers the unique opportunity to perform essential microbiological testing while supporting critical laboratory operations. You’ll contribute directly to ensuring product quality and patient safety through validated methods in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) setting. This internship is ideal for students passionate about laboratory science and eager to build a career in the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities
As an integral part of our QC team, you will support operations across three main areas:
1. Microbiological Testing & Analysis
- Perform routine microbiological testing including Bioburden, Endotoxin (LAL), and Environmental Monitoring (EM) plate reading.
- Handle various sample types such as critical utilities, in-process materials, Bulk Drug Substances (BDS), and raw materials.
- Operate and maintain qualified equipment including autoclaves for sterilization and depyrogenation ovens.
- Conduct daily liquation of Process and Non-Protein samples.
2. Sample & Documentation Management
- Manage the receipt, logging, and proper storage of routine and non-routine (NRR) samples.
- Perform peer review of sample management tasks to ensure data accuracy.
- Act as ECC (Engineering Change Control) Controller: generate controlled document copies and perform reconciliation.
- Maintain tracking systems for NRR samples and ECC documentation.
3. Laboratory Support & Compliance
- Assist in inventory management, including stocking lab consumables (using the buddy system for items <20kg).
- Perform sanitization of consumables and equipment in the Microbiology Lab.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on key equipment (Temperature-Controlled Units, Biosafety Cabinets).
- Uphold 5S methodology and maintain excellent laboratory housekeeping.
- Adhere strictly to all EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) requirements and GMP standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Skills
- Currently pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or related field.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Keen interest in the biopharmaceutical/quality control industry.
