ResMed's Platform Security team is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to help create scalable, secure platforms that protect patient data and accelerate innovation. In this role, you will work with cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and modern security patterns under the mentorship of senior engineers to develop reusable security components that empower development teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
You will contribute to the core security platform, building tools and services that make security intuitive and accessible for all developers.
Secure Platform Development:
- Implement secure platform features under mentorship, including reusable auth modules, infrastructure-as-code templates, and policy-as-code rules.
- Develop software, automation, and infrastructure that is tested, observable, and continuously deployable.
- Uphold secure coding practices such as least privilege, dependency hygiene, and security scanning.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Participate actively in code reviews, applying team standards and learning secure development patterns.
- Maintain and improve developer documentation and quick-start guides to reduce friction and improve adoption.
- Proactively respond to feedback on your components, triaging issues and prioritizing fixes to improve usability.
Technical Growth & Contribution:
- Assist in design discussions by asking clarifying questions, researching options, and summarizing trade-offs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to learn domain specifics and grow your technical skills in cloud security.
- Continuously learn new platform technologies and adapt as tooling and security practices evolve.
Your Skills and Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience with a demonstrated interest in security.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java).
- Git fundamentals and experience with basic cloud concepts (IAM, networking) OR containerization.
- Understanding of secure coding fundamentals and ability to write unit tests.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
Preferred Knowledge:
- Interest in Kubernetes basics (Pods, Deployments, Services) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Awareness of API auth patterns (OAuth2/OIDC), network security concepts, and modern delivery practices.
- Familiarity with cryptography fundamentals and CI/CD basics.
