Primary Objectives of this Job
The Automation Intern will participate in a structured 12-month rotational program designed to provide comprehensive, practical experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing automation. Your primary purpose is to deliver scoped projects, support critical engineering activities, and build foundational knowledge in GMP, EHS, and data integrity. This program is crafted to prepare you for a future career as a junior automation engineer through immersive, hands-on exposure in a world-class regulated environment.
Your 12-Month Rotational Journey
This internship offers a unique, structured pathway to understand the interconnectivity of engineering, manufacturing, and automation.
Program Structure & Responsibilities:
- Months 1-3: Site Engineering Department – Gain an overview of facility systems and engineering principles.
- Months 4-6: Manufacturing Operations – Take on a Biotechnologist role on a rotating 12-hour shift pattern to understand core manufacturing processes through hands-on suite operations.
- Months 7-12: Automation Function – Focus on delivering scoped projects and building technical expertise.
Key Project & Learning Responsibilities:
- Deliver Scoped Projects: Lead initiatives such as CSV workflow improvements, alarm rationalization, and cyber security remediations, culminating in a capstone automation project with full documentation.
- Support Core Activities: Assist in troubleshooting, validation (C&Q), and documentation under supervision, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to initiatives that enhance operational reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Build Foundational Knowledge: Complete mandatory training in GMP, EHS, and data integrity. Develop technical competencies in process automation systems and Operational Technology (OT) platforms.
Who You Are: The Ideal Candidate
You are a final-year engineering student with a proactive mindset and a strong desire to apply your technical knowledge in a impactful, real-world setting.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Final year undergraduate pursuing a Diploma/Degree in Biological, Electrical, Computing, Mechatronic, or Pharmaceutical Engineering.
- Strong interest in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and process automation.
- Familiarity with basic engineering principles.
- Prior internship or project experience in a technical field is an added advantage.
